I have the same problem with the brightness. Please provide a fix a.s.a.p.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if the fault lies within Kodi you'll never be abe to get the "correct" image just by applying additional image adjustments. Though it might make it more pleasant to watch.
Did you try my suggestion of playing a 4K 10bit HEVC file which seems to trigger the correct color profile on the Minix?
Just to be sure, everyone knows that increasing the brightness on the display, is not a solution to this problem ;-)
The real bug is the incorrect handling of the signal (RGB full vs. limited)
There is a mismatch between 0-255 and 16-235 output...
This must be fixed in the FW of the box, but the Admins already responded to this bug report - and it will be addressed with FW004!
To raise the display brightness is just a temporary workaround.
I do not have a 4K TV. I use the box only for Kodi online streaming and I am lucky to get 1080p!
Looking Forward too gave this problem adressed, vers annoying and when I asked the helpdesk, they had no answer...

The issue is fixed!
Please be patient while the team fix more issues before the release of FW004
We want to double-check the fix is ok before releasing it,
what's the easiest way to produce the problem?
We would want a few sample video files that could copy this issue to check.
Please advise, thanks a lot!
Thanks to this bug I learned I could create a picture profile on my Marantz AVR, so I did one for my U9, brightness, contrast, etc...just perfect, so cool !
But you don't have a U9-H?
Does the "darkness" happens during playback,
or right from the beginning of playback?
And does it recover if you move the mouse cursor + click 1-2 times on the remote?
We suspect it's an "invisible" warning message causing this "darkness".
Why during playback? The desktop, browser (text is illegible from a distance), any app/the device output is dark!
In my case it happens from I turn on the device with the "darkness" occuring everywhere from the home/launcher screen to all apps etc. But if I play a 4K movie in Kodi it somehow fixes the problem and when I return to the Kodi interface or exit Kodi the colours remain corrected. It doesn't work playing regular HD or SD video files, only 4K seems to trigger the right colours.
But if I reboot the device or turn it completely off then the problem returns after I turn it on again.
During USE, and when it happens, try moving the cursor around, and click anywhere on the screen once (robot key of the A3 remote).
Try what I wrote above next time if you see it?
Please report back, thanks.
Not sure what you mean about moving the cursor around because I only have the standard remote control, not the A3 or any other fancy one.
And just clicking around, opening and closing settings, apps etc doesn't do anything, only the 4K video files trick.
When im watching a movie or if there is a 90% dark area like in settings it dims quite a bit. Moving the mouse does not bring it back only when a brighter screen comes
Need move + click
Do you have a USB mouse to try?
I agree !
Interface become normal after the 4K video files trick.
Only use A3.
We just want to make sure we are fixing it in the right direction.
