Yesterday Amazon has released the Prime Instant Video app in Germany

I have installed the app and the corresponding "Amazon App".
When I launch the app and select a video, the monitor goes all black, the "Amazon App" crashes and I am back on the home screen.

I have tried the phone and tablet version of the "Amazon App".

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    PS 002 beta 8 firmware (20140809)

I'm on the same firmware and experience the exact same problems. Has someone already had a look into it and can estimate whether it's a Minix firmware problem or an Amazon app problem? The app works great on my Nexus 5 and 7, by the way.

I also have the same problem. Since the app has been released only last week it could be a problem with the app itself or may have to do with DRM (or the lack of it). I have seen couple of threads about this over at Freaktab forum. What surprised me is the fact that one user reports that it works on the CS918 and another user reports that it doesn't work on Minix X7. They both have RK 3188 SoC. So, is it a firmware issue?

Interesting. For me I cannot even download the local amazon app because it reports that my device is not compatible .... on my Samsung phone I can use it....

Finally, Finally Finally Amazon releases...And a FAIL!
Tried Amazon on beta, no...works great on LG 770. I assume an issue within Minix. Please add support before V2.

It will work only with the Amazon phone app. Will not work with Amazon for Tablets app. You have to sideload the app or install it from Amazon App Store.

Are you sure that the app isn't checking the device ID then, too?

I am absolutely positive on this one. It is working fine on my Nexus 7.

    Minix X8-H has the problem!
The app works on the LG G2 and Tegra Note 7

The App works perfect on the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact but on the X8-H after i start an Video it fall back to the home Screen. On Samsung GalaxyTab 7.7 (P6800) it reports that it is not compatible

Yes, at present that is the only way. You can sideload it or install Amazon Appstore and then install Amazon mobile from the appstore.

I tried this and the mobile version also isn't working in fact it doesn't even show amazon instant video menu entry .... Where are you from maybe this is not working here in Germany .... I wouldn't be surprised

I am in the US. It is quite possible that the app functions are different in Germany.

Yes please - any updates? I just bought Amazon Prime membership and had to cancel it because it doesn't work with the X8-H. I am new to Android and had hoped this little box would be straightforward...
Is the problem with the X8 (and a firmware update might fix it?) or Android Kitkat (we need an update for that) or is it Amazon blocking devices they don't want to access the app?
If anyone has it working could they please post an idiots guide that a newbie can follow (I don't know what sideloading is...)
    thanks folks

I just went to Google and typed in sideloading android and was shocked at all the informative, descriptive examples that was provided.
