so what is your solution then ?

there's a few of us looking into it on multiple threads:
If you haven't got anything helpful to contribute maybe you should stick to the 'Off Topic Chat' and let the rest of us get on with trying to figure out the issue

@Frederick_99 does have a point. I don't think it is necessary to post in all 4 threads. It sort of becomes difficult to keep track. I will be posting only in this thread.

For the last two days, I have been testing and the only thing I could figure out is, the problem starts with beta 8 firmware. I tested stock, beta 2, beta 8, beta 9, 002A and 12/24 firmwares. I had almost reached the conclusion that it is the receiver's HDMI control (RIHD on Onkyo) that is causing the problem, but I haven't been able to consistently reproduce the problem. So, it is still up in the air.

I am not using HDMI for the audio, but SPDIF and still have the drop outs. I also have the dropouts in other apps then XBMC so I think the problem lies lower as many others has mentioned aswell. Some people say disabling the HW codec solves it in XBMC (but that limit to 720p). I do not know if that can be disabled with other apps aswell in testing purpose

Ok now i've done a full wipe of my box using the FW002A using the pc software and the issue still happens.
I'm starting to think this is a physical hardware fault :( i'm started to get really fed up that i'm getting virtually no support on this issue

When i have passthru enabled for my receiver to decode the audio stream the streem will stutter randomly (sometimes after ten mins sometimes after an hour) and then no more audio but video plays fine.

I think the key line in the log is :
09:32:51 T:1926926320 ERROR: CDVDAudio::AddPacketsRenderer - timeout adding data to renderer

    Any idea what's causing this?

Thanks @kingdingaling for posting XBMC log. I was going to post the same thing. I did more tests over the weekend and now I can say positively that this is a problem with X8-H. X8-H possibly has an incorrect value for N/CTS for 24p mode. This is causing an error in the audio clock regeneration, throwing it out of sync with the video clock and causing these dropouts. I haven't looked at the codes to see how X8-H calculates the N/CTS (I am not a programmer). Is it reading from a predefined standard table or is it getting hardware CTS? Anyways.. the dropouts are result of an incorrect N/CTS. I am still testing a few different scenarios and will make a more detailed post later.

It's worth saying this issue is happening for all frame rates and all file types for me not just 24p (i was watching British @25fps) and it happens also.
Would your theory also explain it for other frame rates?

You seem to have other issues riding with this (based on your earlier logs). What was the refresh rate set to when you were playing 25fps? If you have the automatic refresh rate switch, more than likely it was set to 60Hz.

yes its a Candian TV so it stays at 60hz for 25fps content

the log i just posted the TV was running at 24hz for a 23.976 file

Have you let the developers at minix know about this issue?

ok but these solutions aren't relating the N/CTS issue right?

can you please acknowledge that you've seen this and can take this futher?

I've just read this about which options to use for sync playback to display.
i've switched it to video clock (drop/dupe)

i can confirm with PCM set in minix audio and in XBMX the synch playback using video clock (drop/dupe) and audio passthru on the problem still happens

Sync to playback is not a functional feature on Android systems. PCM will also have the same dropouts if N/CTS is incorrect.

Good to know. Any work from Minix about a fix?

I reported my likely cause for this problem a day ago. I don't think Minix can come up with a fix overnight. We should give them some time. They will have to acknowledge, verify and then work on a fix. I also think that this is likely to be an Amlogic problem.

Yep I can confirm dropouts with pcm.

Someone said they rolled back to stock firmware and the dropouts are gone. I might do this today but then frame rate switching won't work

The stock firmware does not have 1080p 24Hz mode. If I remember correctly, frame rate switching works only on beta 9 and up firmwares. Do you also have audio dropouts with 1080p 60Hz mode?
