I just bought a Neo X8-H Plus and everything seems to be working well except my audio output. When i go into system settings i can't change the audio output from android, audiotrack which is greyed out. I do have sound however, i have spdif and passthrough enabled but only seem to be getting a PCM 2.0 signal regardless of what i watch in xbmc (kodi) or netflix. I have an optical cable out to my Yamaha receiver which is capable of Dolby Digital and DTS, but doesn't seem to be getting a 5.1 signal at all. HDMI is to my TV which i just use as a display. Am i hooking it up wrong? Is there any way to fix this or is everything right now coming as a 2 channel signal?? Please Help!!! This is so frustrating!!! Thanks

Did you connect minix to the amplifier with optical or tv with amplifier with optical cable?

Minix straight to amp with optical cable and HDMI straight to TV

then you manually need to direct the audio output to spdif within minix settings, and set the correct settings in the audio settings of kodi...something like the attached.

That's how I have it. Sound works just not getting anything more than a 2 channel signal in anything I watch. Is there an example of a 5.1 show or movie that someone has recently watched to check my setup? Everything I seem to watch streams only AAC 2.0

Google dts samples or 5.1 samples. Download them and see if they work ok.

nope, not working. not getting dolby digital or dts signal to my receiver, I am getting a PCM signal however...is this right? This is pissing me off!! I there an issue with my box? I know I had a dolby digital signal from my PVR that i recently unhooked, so it shouldn't be my receiver. Still don't understand why the options are greyed out to change my audio output device, it says my passthrough device is also android, audiotrack but greyed out. I there an issue with my box?

More than likely it is just a simple configuration issue. Can you post screenshots from your box similar to the ones that @Frederick_99 has posted? We can then take a look at your current settings.
Android audiotrack is grayed out by design. There is nothing wrong with that.

You need to change the number of audio output channels in Kodi to 2.0. This is required if you want to get DTS/Dolby Digital 5.1 audio passthrough via SPDIF. If your source is only AAC 2.0, you are not going to get DTS/Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

Ok will do. Are there sources that are 5.1? I haven't seen any yet, that's why I ask. I also tried a Dolby Digital sample through YouTube on the box and only had 2 channel sound there too. Is there something else I need to change or is this expected?

Youtube dowmixes sound to 2.0 that's why I asked you to google 5.1 samples, download them and play them. Follow the link in my signature, there is a site to download 5.1 samples in there. I can't post links, I'm on my phone.

Are there a lot of 5.1 streams on kodi that you're aware of so i can try them or are they pretty rare? I can only find AAC 2.0

This is a forum for Minix boxes. We cannot help with other manufacturer's boxes. you should check if they have their own support site.

Perhaps you have the same trouble as me, and the answer was simple. Start a film on Kodi, while it plays, press "Options" on handset, move to highlight sound options on right side of screen and adjust top option for sound volume.
