Thanks But the update process is tough for a common man. I was having 2 boxes before
where one box updates by placing updatekit folder in a sd card and inserting and power on the device within 5 miniutes
the box is updated. The second one had 2 options one plaving update kit folder in sd card and update via menu system update
and map to the file.but in tis case if the box is not botting up you need to crreate a bootable sd card with pc and update.
This iam quoting because pc is risky as few have the reported burning of boxes & laptop by just connecting the cables.
& Secondly i have seen the upgrade tool & there are 2 buttons upgrade & restore, clicking upgrade seems to brick the device as per YT video
They should remove or disable that option. As per common sense people will click upgrade not restore unless they read the instruction
properly or seen any video
I request admin to make the upgrade thread sticky with dos and donts properly mentioned
May be HardwareGuru/Gufone will do a .zip file and release it in the next days, to copy to a SD-Card and automatically upgrade from there the X8-H with this latest Beta-9.!!!
I think that this upgrade method is easier and also more secure, for not "Technical Advance" users...
You are absolutely right.
& OTG method should be kept for boxes which are not booting or advance users who want to modify system
A .zip update would be great.Safer,almost trouble free since no usb/driver/PC issues are included in the process and the best part is that you don't have to unplug the device, connect it to the PC,flash it and then reconnect all the cables again.It's not the easiest thing to plug and unplug cables when you have cable management!
Let's hope that HarwareGuru or Gufone could release a .Zip of this new Beta-9 fast!!!
Finless bob on the freaktab forum usually has a zip version pretty quick, and it's untouched without any added splash screens usually.
AFAIK the update will be a OTA. So download with the update tool and install. Easy as that.
Beta 9 has been released so i am going to lock this topic to make this last post with the link to the firmware;
