So there is a problem with write permission for sdcard and ext hdd? With fw004 I have this big problem with all apps, only es file explorer works because the first time it asked me permission to write...

We've resumed work today and have fixed the passthrough & HDMI spoofing problems already~

@WeK05 no problem with Showtime app now, playing way more than 30 seconds~ (VPN to US by router, not the hub to avoid VPN restrictions, if any)

This problem should be fixed as well.

It's indeed our fault, I'm sorry.
But there are not many bugs, 2 bugs. We have fixed them today.
And we shall release the fixed version as soon as we can.
    No worries...

P.S. We shall introduce the new SAMBA without 2GB limit.

We found the root cause, Amlogic gave us new Dolby/DTS libraries with bugs... we deployed them...
Switching them back to their previous versions and now everything works fine again, I think we can even remove that spoofing switch, it's no longer needed.

The way that Marshmallow handles HDMI spoofing is different from Lollipop/KitKat,

we have to temporarily remove this feature from the firwmare until we found a workable/stable/good solution...

You guys love newer Android version, we really hate it... o_O

Just some bigger numbers with more troubles to solve...

I'd be happy with KitKat if it had adoptable storage.. It's the only feature I've wanted since ICS

    Hi Ken,

Coming from U8-H Plus to U9-H last weekend. :)

Great to hear that Samba will be back (good job!) and hopefully with the correct read/write permissions. Access Permissions are overall still an issue.
I did notice these problems on FW004, so I decided to do a full reset of my U9-H with the image burning tool to FW003. In the meantime the FW004 has been drawn back from OTA because of other new bugs.
    So I'm back on FW003.

I did some testing and here are my results:

    1. External Storage: So, it's important that apps (such as kodi) can read/write to SD cards as well as connected HD drives (permissions issue).
As a result Kodi cannot make any backups, do downloads or add subtitles to movies on HD or SD. ("Allow file renaming and deletion option" checked in Kodi)
    2. OTG Connection: When connecting the box with my Windows 10 PC via the OTG cable. On SD and ext. HD only part of my folders are visible. This is very strange. No write access to SD and HD. Again permissions issue.
    3. SSH Connection: Can see all files and folders on internal storage, SD and HD. No write access to SD and HD. Same permissions issue.
    4. FTP Connection: Can see all files and folders on internal storage, SD and HD. No write access to SD and HD. Same permissions issue.
    5. Samba Server: Due to not rooted not accessible by Windows. However via iphone, I see all files and folders on internal storage, SD and HD. No write access to SD and HD. Same permissions issue.
    6. ES Explorer: Can only write to Micro SD Card. When deleting the file of folder, it creates a Lost.Dir folder. Do not know if the latter is normal thought.
    7. Killing Tasks: Task explorers (ES Task Manager or others) cannot kill tasks. It says it does, but the task are still running in the background.
    8. HD Auto-sleep: My external HD (Intenso 5TB) does not go to auto-sleep anymore. It keeps turning and never shuts down. This is no problem with that same drive ot my U8-H Plus.

Keep the good work coming and hopefully all solved in FW005. I can imagine that Android 6 is hell. (y):);)

Hope this info helps in your development.

It is only memory usage that is cleared!
Also even if apps are shutdown, AFAIK some are designed to continue running in the background anyway and will restart.
If you think the apps are still running in the background, how do you know?

Answer. CEC does not work sometimes (some background process doesn't allow sleep). I tried many task killer apps no one works... After using "Minix task killer" everything works...
    Minix Dev. pay attention, please!

I have a problem that is similar to the YouTube issue. In HBO Go app, most of the time playback starts with a green mess. Sometimes it clears by itself within a few seconds. You can also clear it with the 10 sec. seek. In the YouTube clip below I clear it at 56 sec.

Yes Ken you are right, Marshmallow is really bad for Android media players, Google has added features, that instead of helping only makes things worst.

So when can I expect a fix for this fw04 that disabled my 7.1 hd audio? Also the SMB not working issue? I only have 30 days to return to Amazon & if the audio issue cannot be fixed I will go back to Roku. It can do 5.1 audio.

Surely within your return period, no worries.
It's been fixed but we can't release without testing...

What's the problem with Kodi making back ups to an SD card? I have Kodi 17.1 using FW004 and can write a back up of Kodi to my SD card using the Back Up add on. Or is that not what you're referring to?

I've noticed the Lost.DIR on SD cards too busy assumed it was normal behaviour as, IIRC, it's normally a hidden folder that gets created every time I insert a blank or freshly formatted card, same as the Android folder.

We can't control what apps users use...

Ok. But can you make your "task killer" as a separate app?
