Android 4.4.4 - support multi-channel audio passthrough, MINIX did it, within XBMC.
    Windows 8.1 - multi-channel is supported within XBMC/Kodi as reported by users/reviewers. (Edited: 7th March 2015)

Android 4.4.4 - Infra red remote is supported and bundled.
Windows 8.1 - Infra red is not supported, keyboard & mouse are required to operate.

Is there something that is drastically different with the board/processor used in Z64? Bay Trail processors do support multichannel Dolby Digital Plus/dts audio passthrough. If Z64 is using Realtek ALC5640, why would you need an audio driver from Intel. Intel drivers are required when onboard Intel Azalia HD audio codec and LPE are being used. I don't know, I may be missing something here .

Just depends on your needs, if you need audio passthrough then yes, if you need flash/ silverlight and/or windows programs then no

Hopefuly I'm not breaking any rules here with this question, but I think this is important for most of us, so...
If there is no passthrough, why similar device with same chip, ram and OS from your competitor MeLE PCG03 claims :

    Dolby Digital Downmix: Yes
    Dolby Digital Passthrough: Yes
    DTS Downmix: Yes
    DTS Passthrough: Yes
    DTS-HD MA Downmix: Yes
    1080p XBMC: Yes

I'm guessing someone there tries to fool their customers? Also, a comparison between the two models with Z64W advantages will be helpful! Thank you!

Hm, could it be that if one uses VGA driver from i3 lets say the passthrough works? The same was said about Intel NUC Celeron (that it didn't support multi channel passthrough) but we used i3 driver and then it could, but with occasional glitches.

PS I posted the same on the other topic but I saw noone commenting there so I pasted it here as well...

Could they even ship after the discovery of hardware design failure?

Can you please share more information about this? So far I know, that the bios is wrong with this device, but if you try to fix it, you'll loose your waranty - it's like "Paragraph 22"with those guys...

I don't know much about the details, I just know there are some hardware issues.
I'm not in the position to reply questions about their product, right?
The only fact I could tell is - they got no experience making a real PC, including BIOS, of course.
Enough being said about non-MINIX products, we seldom talk about others, not our practice~ ;)

I have received my Neo Z64w about a week ago and tested passthrough to my receiver with Kodi and its working fine (DTS, Dolby Digital). I can't test DTS HD and DD plus and Dolby TrueHD because my receiver doesn't support it, I think these are the one that are not supported.

I am a bit confused now, so pass-through is working flawless with Kodi but not in Windows?

If its working in Kodi why wouldn't it work in Windows? I assume the same driver is used?

Are you sure you are getting a 5.1 signal? My receiver reports a Dolby or DTS signal but it turns out te be a stereo or at most a 2.1 signal, no sound from the rear speakers.

I got it working!!! Dolby 5.1. and DTS sound using passthrough. The problem was in my Onkyo receiver settings. Tried this testfile http://www.mysurround.com/test/TestMySurround-en.dbr.ac3 and sound is coming from all 5 speakers

What about adobe flash issues on Android KitKat and higher?
I'm considering to go with windows only because of this!

    I watch the Utopia streams.
This is like Big Brother and I like it.
The Minix Neo 8H plus with android does not work with this streams.
Try to use Utopia streams in a browser but Flash player is needed...
You need a Windows 8 media player with the Utopia app or a Samsung smartphone with Android.
I have also a Pipo X7s uses an Intel Atom with Android and Utopia streams seems to work in low quality.
The Utopia Windows 8 app is more stable then the android app with a Samsung smartphone and also Apple app on an Ipad is also working.

Android and Utopia does not be the best friends. Will it work on let's say a Samsung device, it does not give you quarantees it also work on other hardware and Android.:(
