    1. What firmware will come pre-installed on my MINIX device?
Your MINIX NEO Series device should come with the latest available firmware pre-installed. You can check which firmware version you currently have installed by going to 'Settings' -> 'About Device' -> 'Vendor Software Version'. Please be aware that MINIX only pre-installs 720p FWs into all our NEO Series devices. The reason for doing so is that not all TVs support Full 1080p HD, and thus to ensure compatibility for the majority of our users we only pre-install 720p FWs. However, for those users who wish to watch their media content in Full 1080p HD, 1080p FWs are readily available to download from our forum - www.minixforums.com. UPDATE: All our latest FWs for the NEO X7 and X7mini are now using an 'overlay' technique, and built on a 1080p kernel. The 'overlay' technique means that the user interface etc.. will be displayed in 720p, however if Full 1080p HD media content is detected it will be displayed in 1080p. This new technique means we no longer need to release two separate official firmwares, as the firmware is now suitable for those with both Full HD and HD ready TVs.
    2. Does MINIX often release firmware upgrades?
MINIX continuously releases new firmwares for all the NEO MINIX Series - including the NEO G4, X5mini, X5, X7mini, X7 - to enhance the user experience. Our official 720p firmwares, both current and previous versions, are available to download from our website, http://www.minix.com.hk/Support.htm. Full 1080p versions of our official firmwares can be found on the MINIX Forum, http://www.minixforums.com/. 3. Will there be support for O.T.A (Over The Air) upgrades for MINIX devices?
We are currently building and testing our O.T.A upgrades system, which we hope to make available to customers in early 2014. Until our O.T.A upgrade system is available customers will need to use the current system of connecting their MINIX device to a PC in order to upgrade the firmware. Our apologies for any inconveniences this causes our customers, though we are working as quickly as possible on our O.T.A system. UPDATE: Both the NEO X7 and X7mini are now O.T.A upgrade enabled. The O.T.A feature was built into the NEO X7 008FW and NEO X7mini 010a FW - all future upgrades for these two models will be via the O.T.A method. You must upgrade manually to these FWs to enable the O.T.A feature if you are currently using an older firmware.

The same works with games, why play Angry Birds on your Smartphone when you can let the whole family join in and have the game simultaneously appear on the TV screen. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi Display is not compatible with Samsung and Sony devices. Please see link for quick 'How To Guide' for Wi-Fi Display: http://blog.laptopmag.com/miracast-android-mini-pc.

    36. What is the difference between dual-core and quad-core MINIX devices?
All our devices deliver the same features; all can achieve Full HD playback, browse the web, real-time audio and video streaming, XBMC and IPTV capability, have access to Google Play Store, and include Wi-Fi Display capability and AirPlay support. The main difference between dual-core and quad-core lies in gaming performance. Whilst all our media hubs can handle traditional popular Android games such as Angry Birds etc… our latest quad-core devices – the NEO X7 and NEO X7mini – are built to handle the next generation of more graphic intensive Android games.
    37. What is the difference between the 'full-size' and 'mini' MINIX devices?
NEO X5mini v NEO X5, NEO X7mini v NEO X7? what’s the difference? ... Well the answer is connectivity and memory. The ‘minis’ are scaled-down versions, offering less connectivity and memory but at a more affordable price. The NEO X5mini and X7mini offer one less USB port, no OTG port, no microphone or audio jack, and they also have only half the amount of internal memory – 8GB, compared to the 16GB available on the NEO X5 and X7. Other differences that should be noted is the NEO X5mini doesn’t have Bluetooth capability in contrast to the other three, and the NEO X7 is the only device to offer Dual-Band Wi-Fi (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz).
