How to: Root the MINIX Neo Z64A

Discussion in 'NEO Z64A Guides & FAQs' started by Gadget Friendly, Apr 5, 2015.

  1. Sup guys, heres a video tutorial on how to gain root access on the Neo Z64A. This should only be used by ADVANCED users who know what they are doing as one can easily damage the file system of the os by making a mistake thus rendering your box inoperable. If you are new to this type of thing or even think youll be messing with things to that extent it may be in your best interested to do a full eMMC backup before rooting - that way at least you can recover what you mucked up.

NOTE per MINIX regarding rooting - http://www.minixforum.com/threads/please-dont-root-your-machine.94/

I have the opposite problem. I'm trying to watch the More 4 app which is catch up TV and it keeps giving a network error. When entering the app it says it won't work as the device is rooted. Tried unroot apps which sem to imply the device is in an unstable state.

Device is Neo Z64 running 4.4.4. I'm no developer so I just want this thing to work. How do I resolve this?

I think the reason may be something similar to this with the U1...

Yep, that looks right. I see the U1 got a firmware release, but I don't see one for the Neo Z64???
