What i don't understand. Why is is FW008 the latest when the 009 was posted on March. Gamshiro posted his/her question on April.

probably because the firmware to downgrade and flash wasn't available on that date, only by FOTA...thats my guess...especially if you read the thread a little
    ...why are you concerned

Yes, the firmware images were only added around the 5th May! Only OTA update was available until then!

@Frederick_99 don't you mean "firmware to upgrade and flash"

M no IT guy. Can one perform an Online Update. The option is available but nothing happens when button is pressed. I have 2 of these boxes in 2 different countries so an OTA update will be much preferred given my IT capability.

    Anyone knows how?

Hi Support, I tried to follow these instructions. X8H connected to Windows 10 PC. Loaded image and started the Flash process. Had a data transfer error after a few minutes. Last part of Log is below. Looks like it could be bricked as only get black screen if I try it on TV. Any suggestions?

Perhaps it's a corrupt download. I'm assuming you're trying to update using firmware file X8_X8PLUS_X8H_FW009.rar. Therefore, have you checked that the MD5 checksum of your downloaded .rar file matches the MD5 checksum stated in http://minixforum.com/threads/x8-x8-plus-x8-h-official-firmware-009-20160324.11938/? If not, try downloading it again using a suitable download manager and check the MD5 checksum again.

If the .rar file was unpacked then chances are the .img file is not corrupt. Usually if a .rar file is corrupt it won't unrar!
No harm in checking though! (y)

Menorca man and Villa - thanks for your responses. After I had posted, I tried doing some OTA upgrade using a USB drive, but that didn't work either. I was pretty fed up that I had bricked the box, so almost as an afterthought decided to try using my wife's Windows laptop to perform the USB burning process again. Guess what- worked perfectly! So I am one happy bunny again.

Thanks again for your timely responses.

As a matter of interest which Windows version does your wife's laptop have?

Hi, Windows 10 also. Surprising really, so it would seem to point to an issue with my main PC machine. Though the error messages implied a timeout failure on the write operation so it would look like a failure on the Minix box. Obviously not!
