Are you aware that MINIX are official sponsors of Kodi?
It supports decoding HEVC main10 profile, but the output is limited to 8-bit color depth. It also doesn't support Rec.2020 or HDR10 metadata passthrough. These are supported only on the U9-H.
This description of Neo U1 on Minix website is completely incorrect, misleading and in my opinion should be removed.
There is absolutely no way you can increase the dynamic range when the output is limited to 8-bit color depth.
Moving to Wetek ! Probably the best android player int he market...
I don't want to be rude, but I'm confused. If Minix is sponsor of Kodi, and they have at least 7 AMlogic powered devices (U9-H, U1, X8-H Plus, X8-H, X8 Plus, X8 and X6), why is amcodec not part of Kodi?
Bit off topic, but all the Wetek's have exactly the same CPU's (AMlogic) en GPU's as the U1, so also amcodec. You'll be running into the same problems as with Minix.
Like @JeroenR mentioned, you are not going to gain anything from WeTek devices if HDR is what you want.
Wetek has android 6, Netflix 4K, and... auto framerate switching... plus t2 or s2 tuner...
I'd say; go for it!
