    Hey guys ..

This is LOLIPOP android 5.0 for the X7.

    READ CAREFULLY!
This is a "PROOF OF CONCEPT" without any warenties whatso ever.
Use this at YOUR OWN RISK.
If you BRICK your machine by flashing it from kitkat it is YOUR RESPONSABILITY !

I will NOT MAINTAIN this firmware.
I will not awnser all your questions or add features ( unless i have spare time wich i have not )

    What works:
    - The OS itselfs
    - WIFI
    - Mouse/keyboard
    - Playstore
    - XBMC

    What does not work:
    - Media play ( apps that use android internal player )
    - Bluetooth
    - Ethernet
    - right click back
    - no on screen keyboard installed

    Extra info:
The firmware has a unified partition space ( about 14 GB free space )
The rom is clean without any extra preinstalled apps, just the Gapps are included.
    + browser

This is based upon a jellybean kernel with a generation 1 bootloader.
    1. This can easely be flashed from a jellybean(generation 1 bootloader) firmware.
    2. flashing on a kitkat(generation 2 bootloader) firmware might brick your device!

If you dont know what you do.. DONT do it!

The firmware has a unified partition space ( about 14 GB free space )

Note; the first boot can take A LOT of time, i timed it up to 10 minutes.
Just be patiant, when you see the boot animation it will eventualy be done.
After the first boot let it settle down for 2 minutes before use.
when you reboot it, the next boot will take abot a minute.

The screen will lock itselfs and turn off, just use your mouse to wake it.
The lockscreen: drag it upward ( from the lock up, not sideways )

    Have fun guys!

Nice work HardwareGuru thanks a lot for all your hard work maintaining our X7 up to date, we can only hope that in the future this will begin to be developed as a official Rom, but now it's long way till there.

This is what I can call a master work. Big step ahead. Can I ask why haven't use the kitkat kernel?... and how hard is to port this over kitkat kernel. Can you share some inside source of your amazing work? Thank you foe a great job.

Lolipop is not mature enough and putting too much work into it will be a waiste of time. This counts for all tv boxes. (Rockchip and amlogic). Porting kernels will only be time consuming without having a fully functional OS for tv boxes and thus it will not add any value. Currently kitkat is the best OS for a proper tvbox experiance.

    As a sidenote;
Even phones running Lolipop having lots of issues still. Lolipop in general is as far as i can tell not done and not suitable for consumers yet.
It looks nice, but that is all you get for now.. and we dont need looks but functionality.
I know people want to see the "latest number" but that wont make things better.
Maybe in time but for now we'll stick to improving KITKAT as the most stable OS and wait till Lolipop is mature enough to be used on TV boxes.
Remember a simple thing as a "remote controll" using a cursor navigation needs masive adjustsments into the framework to make fully functional.. and that is only a cursor navigation, not even mentioning av playback, memory leaks, etc..

As someone who has used Lolipop on another TV box & phone I wholeheartedly agree with @HardwareGuru!
To be honest I think there will be another 1 maybe 2 OS revisions before Lolipop is at a state where it would be worth installing.

Great POC though, always love a POC :D

I think that lolipop still needs masive revisions on some parts and will take some time before we can make use if the benifits lolipop will eventualy have. Mark my words.. Even when lolipop is rolled out on some boxes, it will just be marketing and people will roll back to kitkat asap. I am currently playing with 5.0.2 r2 AOSP and it is still not there yet.
So dont expect something usefull for a few months.

Oh god, Android TV is so much worse than Lolipop!
I installed it then uninstalled it 5 minutes later, in my eyes it's a horrible and very restricted OS!

Hi, thanks for your answear GhOst. you now why the cat die... Curiosity... I know that abaut android tv os being restrictive and not having many compatible apps. Right now I use a personal version of kk and i'm very plesent. Maybe in time when lolipop will be mature enough I will switch to. Look forward for the good news.

HardwareGuru is it not better to put your time on CM for this device? Or will it have the same issue?

I think we should let nitro do the CM11 :D
Its not somthing i am interested in realy .. We only make clean official firmwares.
For now we still focus on the KitKat, as there is still a lot we can do there.
Maybe in time when Lolipop matures we will start at it.
