    I bought a Minix Neo X7 a while ago, and have not used it for some time.
    Pardon me if I am sounding like a real nob here, but I am very little knowledge of how this device works.

    As I recall, when I first powered it up, I had a choice of a few different menu systems, and the choice of opening it once or always. The one that opens now is the Minix one with the green and grey tiles. If I recall, there was an android one also, that allowed me to change the android settings and do updates. Is there a way to switch back to the other menu system?

    the issue I have is that I would like to update my android os, but I don't see any option to do so from the Minix launcher.. thus my request to change launchers. Is there any way to do this?

    Click on the Settings tile in the Minix Launcher, scroll down to the very bottom and click on About Phone or About Device. You should see an option for System Update.
    Which firmware version do you have now?

    thanks for the reply..
    It says all system and rockchip updates are up to date

    Model neo-x7-216a
    android version 4.2.2
    vendor software version 2014-04-

    I thought there was a later version of android?

    Also, I believe I was able to set the screen size using the other launcher, because initially the display was larger than my TV.. There were other settings that I don't see on this launcher... another reason why I wanted to switch launchers.

    The settings menu should be the same regardless of which launcher you use to open it. Look in Display settings to see if you have an option to change the Home screen.
    In regards firmware there is newer firmware available but you cannot update OTA (using the System Update)

    See link below for instructions for how to flash the latest firmware;

    Firmware download link;
    (drivers and Flashtool included)
