    Hi there ppl,

I am new to the world of media players.

This afternoon I received my new Minix Neo U1 media player.

After unpacking and plugging the player into my HDTV, I went into settings and checked for a system update. There was an update which from memory was about 230mb, though I'm not sure what or which update it was.

I selected the update button and let it do its thing while I was doing housework.

An hour has passed and it seems like it has frozen or its stuck.

There is a MINIX logo stuck on my TV screen and I cannot get into settings or anything. I unplugged the power lead and after reconnecting I am still stuck on the same screen???

Looks like the update went foul on you.

    Try the following:
1.) U1 is at OFF state with a power adapter attached.
    2.) U1 is attached to a display.
3.) Press and hold the power button for 6 seconds to go into recovery mode.
    4.) Done.

Try a data wipe/ cache partition here/ factory reset,
If that does not work, you will have to reflash your image using a pc:

9.) After loading, the 1st and 2nd box of "Configuration", "Erase flash" (Normal erase) and "Erase bootloader", should be checked by default.
If you want the machine to restart immediately after flashing, check the "Reset after success" option as well.
Then, click "Start" to start flashing

I cannot check the erase flash or erase bootloader.

I can however check reset after success

You can when the device (U1) is connected,
and when the firmware image is loaded.

    After I had done
"8.) Load the firmware image by selecting "File -> Import image""
    I can check it...

EDIT: also without connected U1 ...
