@MINIX - Ken What does this mean exactly?
NOTE: Adoptive storage is not supported by our OTA.

I know for another device that I have I had to remove the adoptive storage from the device to update OTA. Then I reconnected the adoptive storage and the device ran just fine!

Is this the case here or do you lose all adoptive storage data if it is removed?

@Villa I could not OTA with the storage in. I removed it, rebooted and it still wouldn't work so I was forced to factory reset.
Tried just connecting the SSD again and being hopeful but no I had to re-format it to use it again :(

This is strange as I have adoptive storage (but don't know if it is functioning as it should?) and the OTA FW004 to FW004A worked for me without removing it!

This box is weird lol some people can update with adoptable storage, some can't. Some people can use the Samba server some can't.
Are you using an SD Card or USB HDD?

    SD card.
Though I had not migrated data to it, it just has some apps installed to it.

That was going to be my next question, I had migrated everything across so that may be the difference

I have an SD card installed and I was able to OTA no problem.

As adoptive storage, migrated data or not?
    As external storage?

I think migrating data would affect the update.
Files being moved to somewhere else.

    Hi,

My device NEO U9-H has stock version FW003 and does not get OTA update. I removed microSD card, restarted, but without any success. Is your OTA update system restricted to specific geographical regions (I live in Israel, but device is purchased in USA)? Or maybe you have some load balancing (daily limited number of updates). Or, maybe something else prevents me from OTA update? I have no experience to flash device from file, so OTA update is what I need.

    Best regards

There should be no restrictions. Do you have your SD card as adoptable storage?
If you do then that is the problem, you need to factory reset and then do OTA.

I had Sd card as adoptable storage, but after I read this forum, I moved all to device memory, formatted and ejected it. Do I need factory reset in order to get OTA update?

You could try clearing the Data/Cache of the System Update app first.
If that fails then a Factory reset is the only option.

Thank you - after I cleaned the Data/Cache of the System Update I immediately got OTA update.
The only question I have is about the limitation, that adoptable storage prevents OTA update: is it a problem of specific firmware. or it will be in all firmware versions? If so, the adoptable storage feature is almost useless.
    Again. thank you for help

When you format your card for adoptable storage do not migrate your data across to it.
That seems to work from peoples initial experience. It's only a few Megabytes anyway.

Wanted 2 ask about recently released FW004a (or previously working audio passthrough firmwares) in NEO U9-H. Setting audio to pcm via HDMI. Does PCM HDMI mean a LPCM output of 7.1/multi-channel?

It sounds like it does, but I wanted to be sure. Please clarify as I'm matching up this box with HDMI headset by Tritton, whom only support LPCM.

Multi-channel PCM passthrough is not supported, yet.

My update via OTA went fine without any issues.
