Streaming UHD content is not possible on the Minix U9.

I have a Zyxell 540 NAS with a gigabit wired ethernet connection to the U9.

All my UHD content won't play smooth. I Bought this device to watch UHD content.

Anyone with sugestions how to fix?

I have same issue, streaming from computer with a 150mbit connection, it just cant process the data. but same content put onto a external drive and hooked to U9H works flawlessly.

switch to default resolution>on <- I leave off
Do you have the latest firmware on your ONKYO? https://www.onkyousa.com/Downloads/firmware.php
I would also check all you TV settings to make sure they are set correctly.
Try playing that movie with one of the Andriod players to see if you have the same issue. If so, then it could be an Android, ONKYO or TV setting. If not then it could be a KODI setting.

But no improvement. Checked ethernet speed as well. All is ok. But it cannot buffer fast enough.

I have the same problem but looks like it's related to samba as those videos play fine when playing directly from USB. I bought this device specifically for the gbit and hdr but seems like it's useless to me

I saw that on Kodi in Settings/Player the "sync playback to display" was off. When i switched it to on the playback of 4K UHD files was ok and free of stuttering. Although skipping and fast forward does not work smooth for those files. You can say that FF an skipping does freeze the playback at all.

Sync playback to display should be off.
Have you tried NFS instead of SMB ? It's faster.
Same conf as you but with a Synology. Same switch, i'm able to play this high bitrate clip from my Nas : http://jell.yfish.us/media/jellyfish-180-mbps-4k-uhd-hevc-10bit.mkv

With NSF i can't see the shared folders on my Zyxel. Tried everything but i can't give the right permissions tot the shared folders. So i'm stuck with SMB

If you want 24p (23.976fps) video to Playback smoothly you need to Select in Kodi Settings:

Player Setting > Videos > Adjust Display Refresh Rate > Start / Stop

Otherwise your TV will not switch into it 24p Movie or Cinema Mode.

Also confirming in Android Settings > Display > Screen Resolution you have a 2K4K60Hz resolution selected ?

SMB is a bottleneck with all versions of Kodi Krypton - you have to set the Maximum Video Cache buffer too: (Example 4)
    http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

Ultimately NFS Networking is much better for reliable high Bitrate 4K UHD streaming, far less Network overheads.

    Hello,

That's very strange, I am also streaming UHD 4K HEVC 10 bits HDR10/Vision/dts-hdma/h265 movies from my Zyxel 542 to latest 65' Samsung via SMB through latest Yamaha AVR UHD 4K capable...very very smoothly, so I guess it is not a U9H issue..

I also tried setting my sync playback to display with no results as far as 4K streaming, but I did notice with it set to ON, that for what ever reason it disabled my Passthru option even tho they still showed as all set to on

    Thnx SkyNet.

My Zyxel NAS540 does not give an option to share the files with NFS. When i switch NFS on in the NAS i can see the NAS in the Kodi NFS file section but i cannot go any further than my NFS main share. That means i can't go deeper in the NFS to select my movies folder. Guess the NAS540 is the cheap version.

It's about account permissions. Try to let all accounts to access NFS shares (Nas side). I'm sure it will work ;)

It does not work on a Zyxel NAS540 I can't assign my media map to NFS.
