    Hi Devs,
I have noticed that every time I power up my Neo X5 mini the time is reset. Time won't update until I connect it to internet.
I assumed there would be an internal battery that takes care of this.
Is there any solution to this?

I don't known about Minix but I have other older Android 2.2 boxes that had the same problem as you.
Opened up the box, replaced the thumb battery and all was well afterwards.

Oh crap. It may be worse than I thought. o_O
Some devices (And yes I'm looking at you Sony Xperia S) use a capacitor to retain power over a short period of time and thus the clock.
I've not replaced a capacitor, but I hear in a worst case when they 'pop' they could leak acid and eat the surrounding circuity.
Interesting that there is a capacitor right next to the power input on the pictures provided by @Villa

And wasn't that a nice story girls and boys.. sleep well.

True, best to get the CORRECT answer from @MINIX - Ken or @MINIX - John and see what information they have on how the clock time is store when the device is powered off.

    Look below..

Thank you @Villa the girls and boy can now sleep well with a happy ending to a story. fingers crossed. :coffee:

Also good to know, as I have Minix X7 myself.

Actually, I just spotted that the battery has been removed. Look in the centre of the first image just under the red letters TX, there is a cream coloured connector referenced BAT1.

Image below is the inside of an X7 clearly showing the battery. I expect it is the same for the X5 mini.

NEO X5 mini does not include RTC.

    No Real Time Clock (RTC)
    Bit surprised.
How does that impact WhatsApp on a cold power up???
I know if the clock is slightly out WhatsApp has a big hissy-fit over that.

Thanks a lot everyone. Plugging in a battery worked for me. :)

Can you please confirm with my Minix X5 Mini that if I remove the sticker over the top of one of the chassis screws to att a CR2032 battery for the RTC clock, if this will void my warranty at all?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Lack of reply is noted. I bought two Minix products off the basis that there was support for these products. Obviously that's not the case here.
